Look closely at the world we’ve built, and you’ll notice something strange: we live in a perpetual summer. Our rooms stay a constant temperature. Our devices keep us under high-intensity light at midnight. We are expected to produce, grow, and expand at the exact same pace in December as we do in June . . .
But nature doesn’t work this way . . . the Earthdoesn’t work this way . . .
By forcing ourselves to constantly project outward, we are cutting ourselves off from the essential, restorative rhythms of the living planet. This Sunday, as the planet reaches its Solstice turning point, it is time to learn how to breathe with the Earth again . . .
Join me at the release of this weeks Universal Solstice Meditation. In this 35 minute broadcast we will step out of artificial time and align our internal rhythms with the living energy of Gaia - the living Earth!
The Earth is not an inanimate rock floating in space; it is a single, interconnected, breathing entity. Twice a year, this living system takes a massive global breath. In one hemisphere Gaia exhales, pushing life upward into lush forests, blooming flowers, and high-energy days. In the other hemisphere Gaia inhales, drawing her vital energy deep down into the root systems, settling into a period of quiet, restorative rest.
The upcoming Solstice marks the exact moment this great planetary breath changes direction. Whether you are currently standing in the peak light of summer or the deep dark of winter, you are part of this global rhythm.
There are moments when the entire direction of nature shifts. The Solstice is that pause. It is the precise boundary where the Earth pivots from growing outward to drawing inward. For forty years, I have used music to help people drop out of artificial human schedules and step back into planetary time. This Sunday, we gather online to synchronise our energy with the turning of the sun.
The Universal Solstice Meditation I will be recording this week, will give you the opportunity to connect deeply with the trinity of Earth, the Sun and yourself. You don’t have to be a practiced meditator to participate, you will find this an easy, relaxing and fruitful journey within.
Whether you are at the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere or the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, we are all at the conjunction of a giant planetary breath.
The Summer Solstice is the Exhale. The Earth is breathing out. Gaia pushes her energy upward and outward into the world. This breath creates lush green leaves, blooming flowers, and active wildlife. For humans, this represents expression, high energy, and sharing our gifts outwardly.
The Winter Solstice is the Inhale: The Earth draws her breath back in. Gaia pulls her life force down into her roots, deep underground, to rest and renew. For humans, this represents time of reflection, drawing our energy inward, and quiet self-care.
The tilt of the Earth’s axis causes longer, warmer days in the summer, driving high biological productivity. Winter brings shorter days and colder temperatures, slowing down chemical and biological processes in ecosystems. Liquid water becomes widely available in summer, fuelling growth. In winter, water frequently transitions into snow and ice, temporarily locking up resources and altering the landscape.
Living in alignment with the seasons is a foundational practice in many traditional cultures, often called seasonal living or circadian alignment. Adapting your lifestyle to match summer and winter cycles supports both physical health and psychological well-being.
The Modern Mismatch … Modern technology, like artificial lighting, central heating, and global food shipping, creates a perpetual “indoor summer.” Living with constant high-intensity light and a uniform diet year-round can disrupt circadian rhythms. This environmental disconnect is linked to seasonal affective disorder (SAD), chronic fatigue, sleep issues, and weakened immune function.
One one level, connecting with Earth as a “living entity” confirms the Gaia hypothesis. On another level it is a spiritual communication and confirmation in the wholeness of our humanity. Yes, we are spirit as well as a physical presence. In this alignment, there is great potential for a conscious humanity to interact with Earth in amazing ways.
Your Earthly connection is vital to your wellbeing at all levels through the grounding of your human perspective. Breathing in coherence with Earth’s cycles, nourishes your body, your mind and the extension of your inner peace and fulfilment.
I will be uploading the Universal Solstice meditation later in the week and I will be sending out the link and details to this list. You can view and participate in the meditation anytime near or on the actual moment of the Solstice.
