On the other hand, “101” is a tag used to draw attention to the basics — or an introductory guide that might include entry-level principles. This aligns well with the central assertion of my book, “In the Key of Peace”, which proposes that “Peace is at the beginning of everything” — including our own lives.
Like most people brought up in the developed world, I went to school to learn about life. Once proficient in reading, writing, maths and the science of the time, I left the institution to pursue the deeper knowledge of my inner knowing; a.k.a. my intuition. I followed a creative career path, and through this, my intuition has continued to flourish to this day.
Intuition is a natural human ability to sense something real without needing reason, logic or specific proof. Intuition works at all levels, including personal, interpersonal, social and universal. Through our intuition, we can very naturally tune into a pansophic universe where every atom and cell carries a piece of a larger, interconnected truth. It was through this that I connected with universal peace. The peace that exists at the beginning of everything.
“Peace” is our first human experience. Notwithstanding, in the context of a newborn human, a subjective experience has no real meaning without a sense of objectivity. Even though we are born in a cradle of profound peace, the physical experience of a baby human is inextricably one with its mother.
The level of peace in and around a newborn is, in its most profound state, the legacy of our previous existence. Today, natural birthing mothers are conscious of preserving this quality within their babies, maintaining skin-to-skin contact during the first few hours before continuing a symbiotic connection for six to eight weeks, and beyond if required.
Synchronistically, the peaceful music I was creating for healing and meditation in the 1980s quickly became a favoured atmosphere for mother and baby, initially in natural birthing and later extending into mainstream birthing environments and beyond.
Being able to preserve an atmosphere of peace through the beginning hours of any life form is a good start to life and smooths the transition between the non-physical and physical realities. As we progress through our physical lives, the profound peace of our previous existence is remembered through our “feeling memory” and, by definition, becomes our “Inner” peace.
Inner peace is a vibration that registers deeply within our emotional spectrum. In the first instance, it has the effect of rebalancing our emotional state. As a “first experience”, it underpins our earliest memory, thus providing an emotional grounding should we need it at any time during our lives.
From the moment of birth, our life experience leads each of us in a different direction. But our Inner peace is where we all began together. So using “101” with the term “Inner peace” becomes, by virtue of this, an apt expression.
In numerology, “101” symbolises new beginnings, spiritual alignment and trusting our intuition. Of these three, I find “trusting our intuition” to be of paramount importance at this time, particularly given the challenges humanity currently faces …
Humanity was always destined to become involved in science and technology. Around three hundred years ago, industrialisation became a human reality. In the last 100 years, thanks to advances in science and technology, trade and industry have dramatically changed the human landscape, resulting in a much more logically focused world. Development has now become an obsession and, without regulation, a danger to humanity and our natural environment. This obsession has not only driven the way we think but has also led us to judge and reward rational intellect over intuitive intelligence.
Being a significant aspect of our humanity, intuition accounts for our sense of compassion and kindness, of creativity and vision … all things that are missing or given lower priority as we traverse one of the most challenging stages of our existence.
Inner peace is our natural regulator, helping us maintain emotional balance and supporting our physical wellbeing. Intuition, arising from this peaceful foundation, becomes our guide in the world around us. Through intuitive intelligence, we can recognise when human development is moving beyond what is healthy or sustainable, and when technologies that offer extraordinary possibilities may also become threats to our natural environment. Rational intelligence enables us to develop these technologies, but it is our intuitive intelligence, working alongside reason, that can help us recognise when and how they should be regulated. In this way, intuition becomes not only a guide for our personal lives, but a balancing influence on the future of humanity itself.
Intuition is not only the great healer — it is the great regulator.
Through intuitive intelligence, we get a sense of when and how to regulate the seemingly uncontrollable human thirst for development — and the resulting disregard for its pollution. Through intuitive intelligence, we will naturally want to look after humanity, ensuring that no one suffers under a system that rewards the academically gifted over the intuitive empath.
Inner peace and what it means is not a rational truth … it cannot be measured scientifically, but it can be felt in our bodies, and the feeling of it can heal us of our indiscretions and oversights. Inner peace and its origins bring forward the empathetic nature of our intuition. I believe that if we make room in our living system for its contribution, it will lead us towards a healthy and happy society.
In the last few hundred years, we have not encouraged it in our learning or healing institutions … and now we need it. We need to listen to it, we need to practise it, and we need to balance our world with it.
Enough said …
Inner peace happened at the beginning of our lives. Its vibration is naturally healing and, by virtue of its timing, symbolises our oneness as humanity.
PEACE is at the beginning of everything. Connecting with our Inner peace before we move forward in any activity makes a positive difference in every aspect of our lives. Many people already do this. They are quiet people, and they will come forward at this time of change if we make it safe for them to do so. We can do this by honouring our own intuition …
To meditate and to make time to deeply relax within ourselves is not only the way of peace, it is also our path to knowing our intuition and to supporting our natural health, resilience and immune wellbeing
These are the things that come first in “Life 101”. When we honour our Inner peace and visit it regularly, the world will begin to look different and feel better.
A daily meditation is like cleaning your teeth. It’s just a normal thing to do every day that makes life work better and last longer.
After that, there’s much more to discover that Inner peace brings …
But for today, I’d like to leave you with a verse from my book, In the Key of Peace. The image at the top of this page reflects my own experience of the peace that exists within us, and why I believe it is the beginning of everything.
Meditate, and let your peace be within.
Smiles and love … and thank you for sharing.
