There is no way that humans can separate themselves from being spiritual beings.
But just in case you think Im talking religion - Im not. Being spiritual is being non-physical,and I like the feeling of the word ‘spiritual’ to describe our non physical nature . . .
Humans exist simultaneously at two levels. We are physical beings and we are nonphysical beings … or, as afore mentioned spiritual beings — both existing at once. In this energetic duality, there are two-forms of energy … again, physical and nonphysical.
At a physical level, (OpenAI, Google) the primary energy that keeps the human body functioning at a cellular level is Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). Often referred to as the body’s “molecular unit of currency” or “energy currency,” ATP is produced by mitochondria through the metabolism of food, providing the immediate power required for muscle contraction, nerve impulse propagation, and chemical synthesis … While ATP is the immediate fuel, it is generated from food sources (macronutrients) that are broken down through human metabolic processes …
At a nonphysical level (back to me), we are powered by a nonphysical life-force energy, commonly known as Qi, or Chi energy. While western science focuses on measurable chemical energy like ATP, the concept of non-physical energy is intuitively known and refers to the unseen “vital force,” that occupies the entire space of the physical/nonphysical universe . . . all around us and within us.
Our experience of consciousness is an expression of this life force, and as a result we are constantly accessing its energy through our non-physical or spiritual attributes. These are contained within the dimension of our human mind and include qualities such as, our thoughts, our feelings, our principles and ethics, our intuition, our creativity and our memories — all existing within the awareness of our human consciousness.
The way we consciously access Qi or Chi energy, is by directing our attention toward it. The nonphysical nature of the human mind makes the connection which is related in part, to the physical brain’s understanding of what it can’t see. Furthermore, I would make the point that even though scientific research says that our memories are processed and stored throughout the brain via complex networks of neurons, the intuitive interaction between brain and mind identifies the actual storage location of memory, to be within the mind — not the brain.
The human mind is the non-physical aspect of the physical brain, with one major difference being the size. While the brain is physical and therefore finite, the mind is nonphysical and as such, is infinite. The human perception of the ‘brain verses the mind’ tends to confine our mindfulness to a limited space, but in truth, our mind can be experienced as the infinite space that contains our human life. A space similar in dimension to the infinite continuity of “outer space” surrounding us. When we choose to direct our attention to that possibility, life gets a little easier to understand.
From a brain perspective, I am reaching out through my mind to access universal information existing everywhere throughout the physical-nonphysical universe …
The neurons within my brain that process and store my memories, continuously transmit the ‘now moment’ into my mind, and remain as receiving points for my memory recall. In recall, the mind locates the memory, and the brain as a transmitter/receiver, restores the memory to the brain’s neurons. We just don’t realise we are accessing information in this way, because we are told to believe that it all happens within the brain . . . and so, what we think becomes our reality.
It’s no accident that we look up into space when we are trying to remember something … the eyes follow the attention …
So now, lets move to the channelling of creativity …
I am a professional artist in the area of music composition. When I began writing music for meditation there were few composers around the world who wrote this music, so there were no templates to follow. I was however a daily meditator and this helped me create the music in a useful form for meditation. As a meditator, I had become more sensitive to the quality of my awareness. I noticed when I was in a creative space, I seemed to be in a semi-paranormal state at the same time. I was connecting with energies that felt external to my personal awareness and the ideas and inspirations coming through felt like a combined contribution.
This became clearer as I continued in the direction of my music, but in retrospect, I also realised that it had always been that way. As a composer, being in the moment where a great melody or musical idea came to me, I was aware that I wasn’t the only entity present . . .
But you know, we judge our creativity, and we become connoisseurs of the styles we favour. But just like the remarkable diversity that exists within our human species, so our creativity can also be widely diverse and at times, even eclectically different.
I believe our human creativity is at the core of our meaningfulness and self esteem. To be creative, is to be like our creator … and to enjoy that level of personal fulfilment. We can act creatively, we can think creatively and we can explore creatively. When we let go of the rational mind and become intuitively open, our creativity is inspired. Not just as our inspiration, but in our desire to access a universal idea, we open a channel to other spiritual entities who also hold the energy of that inspiration.
In spiritual terms, a channel is a person who acts as a conduit to receive and relay information from non-physical entities, such as spirit guides, angels and those who have passed. We see those who channel as special group of people with special gifts, but I believe we all have these same gifts and we use them when we are being creative.
Much of the subject in this article relates to the content of my newly revised book, “In the Key of Peace” (see below). This book begins as an autobiography and completes as a self-help journey to Inner Peace. The middle of the book features an instructional chapter on Simply Stillness, a simple but effective approach to meditating using music to maintain a continuously peaceful atmosphere. In the Key of Peace comes as an ebook kindle, paperback and hardcover.
Which brings me to the final comment. Why are we spending so much of our precious lifetime in educational institutions that train us to be rational, logical and so damn right?! Creativity is the balancing energy of an over-active rationale. A creative mind turns righteousness into humility, leaving the learning of life as an open-ended journey. I say, let the children play, and let them teach the teachers teach them ‘what and when’ they want to learn. If you have the opportunity to homeschool your child, take it! And watch them thrive in this changing world.
Happy channelling, and thank you for reading and for sharing
May your peace be within
Much love
