Balancing the outer and inner worlds

For this week I want to talk about the importance of having balance in life. In particular, the balance between the outer and inner worlds of the life we are living.

Firstly, thank you all for your birthday wishes on the 1st. August has always been a magical month for me, even though the Spring Equinox is not for another six weeks, there has always been a feeling in August of freshness and new things on their way. On that note, I am looking forward to sharing my insights and music at the Reflections of Reiki Conference in Christchurch on the 29th and 30th of this month. For me, this event marks a new beginning of outwardly

To the greater majority of humans, the Inner world is not really a place worthy of any credence, but I believe every person has at some point had an experience of their inner world, no matter how fleeting. What is encouraging today however, is the growing numbers of people who are moving naturally toward nurturing an awareness of their inner self …

We are more than just a human body with a heart and a brain … we are at the same time, an energetic body in all aspects of our human self. This can be seen in its totality, or as two aspects of being human. We are physical body and we are spiritual energy, even though the latter is not easily seen, it can most certainly be felt. At the pinnacle of our human energy is the character of our self determination and this reveals through our Inner world. Practicing Meditation creates a pathway to the Inner world and a connection with our Inner self.

The outer world relates to all things physical and is experienced through our physical senses. At this level, our human mind observes and responds to our surroundings. Early in life our responses can be influenced by parents and siblings, as well as our genetic disposition or ancestry. As we grow and mature, our conclusions become our personal beliefs of how life works for us. The interesting things is, what we conclude and end up believing can be very different for each and every person, even though we all appear to share exactly the same world. In the end the discrepancy between our beliefs can create difficulties between us . . .

Later in life, these difficulties compound and can lead to chronic stress. This can often distract us from achieving our true potential and can polarise us with regard a position we might take in life.

Within the Inner world, we find our Inner self, this is linked to our earliest experiences of life. In fact at the earliest point, before forming any opinion of the outer world, we existed only as our inner self - living within our Inner world. Over time, our first experience becomes obscured by the conclusions and beliefs we form around our outer, material world experience . The rest of the story reads the same as the previous paragraph …

Without an Inner world perspective, we have only one view on life. That is the truth we believe in, as we see it through the lens of our early life conclusions and beliefs. For all intents and purposes, we believe that what we see, is the way that it actually is … even though others may have different views to this. The span of differing opinion, would range from partial agreement to complete disagreement … and here lies the obstructions and distractions we face today when it comes to finding peace and our human potential.

If we just ignore what we can’t see, even though our human energy is out there having an effect on everything around us, how can we go forward?

Through practicing meditation, we form a sense of objectivity to our thoughts and beliefs. I believe the objectivity we feel is the connection we make with our Inner self. Even though it is buried below the layers of our beliefs, practicing meditation will surface its energy when we need it, as this happens the uplifted energy of our inner self releases the stresses above it. By contrast to who we are in our outer world, the inner self is the essence of our Inner world. Our inner self was never a full participant of our outer world activities and by definition, is therefore naturally objective. Our inner self also holds the promise of our personal potential and fulfilment.

The objectivity of the inner self, feels fulfilling. It is not involved in what stresses us. As we become one with our inner self, our stresses begin to full away as does our attachment to the associated conclusions and beliefs.

When returning to the outer material world after meditating, we carry the vibration of our true self. This not only affects how we communicate with others, but it also expands our view of the world and we become more accommodating of others and their beliefs. With this, a balance begins to form between our inner and outer worlds and the benefits of this, feel good within us. Our life becomes happier and we become healthier.

Maintaining a balance between the inner and outer worlds is a lifelong journey. It is a journey of fulfilment and wellbeing. As more and more people acknowledge their inner self and benefit from its  ongoing fulfilment, Peace, Inner peace will grow in the world

The 2026 Lion's Gate Portal runs from July 26 through August 12, 2026, reaching its powerful energetic peak on August 8. This event marks a cosmic alignment between Earth, the Sun positioned in the sign of Leo, and the star Sirius as it begins its heliacal rising. The peak intensity of the Lion’s Gate period is on August 8 and is amplified by a rare "triple 8" numerological alignment.(8 + 8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 26, 2 + 6 = 8) The Lions Gate Portal closes on August 12. The number 8 symbolises infinity and an endless flow of abundance. Because 2026 reduces numerologically to a universal year of 1, this year's portal emphasises bold fresh starts, personal reinvention.

In your Lion’s Gate meditation, Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and imagine a beam of brilliant blue-white light from the star Sirius entering your crown chakra to activate your highest potential. Focus your breathing into your stomach, visualising a glowing golden sun that expands with every inhale to boost your personal power and confidence.

Enjoy your meditation and check in with the balance between your outer and inner worlds …

Thank you for reading and for sharing

May your peace be within
