Having covered the overall framework of Creator Consciousness in last week’s article (part one), I am continuing this week with a more detailed view of how we integrate this level of consciousness into our daily awareness …
While everybody’s viewpoint on life is unique to their own perspective, I admit to taking a broad view in this article that identifies a majority trend toward victim consciousness in human behaviour. While this level of consciousness at its extreme, is considered a mental illness, there is a less serious side to thinking in this way that has become widely accepted and practiced by most people alive. Victim consciousness, in any form, is counter productive to living a fulfilled and happy life.
By definition, victim consciousness has been a consequence of our scientific understanding of the world …
In a world viewed only from a physical perspective, we are separate from each other and from all other physical aspects of our reality. Because of this, unplanned and unexpected things can happen to us. These are often inflicted by the actions of external factors, albeit physical catastrophe or other people. At the same time, being emotionally charged, we are willing to defend or offend against the actions of others or circumstances we believe are beyond our control. Victim consciousness derives from a primitive understanding of life and hasn’t really changed since we arrived here millions of years ago.
The awakening for humanity is about seeing life from a broader scientific and spiritual perspective. Quantum physics is a physical confirmation of the new spirituality that connects everything in the universe together. In this outlook the threats of separation and discrimination are dissolved. Creator consciousness is a perspective where we see ourselves as the essential creators of our reality.
The integration of creator consciousness is really about making the space to think in a different way. The only difficulty we face is that a victim mentally is a complete belief system and is connected to our personality. On that basis, the idea of changing the way we think can be a challenge from the get go. But however you look at it, Creator consciousness is an upgrade. It works better, it’s less stressful, and its uplifting and empowering. The beliefs that underpin Creator consciousness, are very different to those of a victim mentality.
I have spent a lot of time in life growing myself from the inside out. In refining my thoughts and working with my belief system, I have realised that making the transition from being a victim to a creator does not happen over-night. In fact, more than forty years after beginning this work, I am still immersed in the progression of my thoughts and beliefs. But what I did notice, was that once I started questioning my reality, my life got better almost immediately. This has been my experience, and of course I acknowledge that every person has their own path to walk, their own goals to achieve.
Im not sure it is possible that we can replace all our old beliefs with a set of new ones all at once, while still maintaining our sense of self at the same time. Our beliefs are closely linked to our self-identity. The ideal transition period is a steady progression of balancing a new outlook with a new experience of self. My journey has been through the “merging” of the two systems, and then continuously updating. Practicing meditation has been a huge factor in this transition process.
Another important point to make is that adjusting our psychology is something we need to be involved in at a core level. In modifying our beliefs, it is important to the end result, that the changes are connected to the natural evolution of our essential self. We must therefore become our own “self-healer”. Developing expertise when it comes to the health of our mental and emotional states, equates to owning a car and being the mechanic at the same time.
The kind of adjustments we will need to make are specific to our own life and they become part of our personal energy. The positive beliefs we nurture, in turn will nurture us. As a creator consciousness, we are the master of our destiny and the initiator of our growth. Here is where practicing meditation becomes so important.
When it comes to meditation, know that the practice itself is not only as we see it in its tradition form. A basic meditation is being able to bring your energy system to a point of stillness and peace. When the physical body is still, the mind becomes ‘at peace’. This leads to deep states of consciousness that are naturally healing to the bodymind.
My life as a music composer, has culminated in writing and producing music for meditation. Most of us are close to music in one way or another, and in this relationship there is an openness to what music can bring us. Meditation music helps us descend into, and remain in deep levels of consciousness. Here, the mind and body begin to naturally heal, or energetically come into balance. In the upper levels of meditative consciousness, we can develop a dialogue with our essential self, this is where we work with our beliefs.
Creating belief affirmations one by one is the goal of merging a new belief system. I would recommend researching “victim consciousness,” and see where the definitions fit your life. Note what these are, and pick out one you feel most applies to you . . .
Next, compose a new belief statement that is in contrast to your existing belief. A simple example might be, “Others are to blame for my misfortunes” - to this, a new belief might be, I am the creator of all my circumstances - good and bad. Ensure the new belief is in the present tense, as in “I am,” not “I will”. The affirmation is repeated in your meditation, before you resurface. Doing this integrates your new belief into your unconscious mind, connecting it to the old belief.
What typically happens when you do this, is that a real-life circumstance will occur followed by your first-thought reaction of your old belief. Immediately after you will have the second thought of your new belief statement. At that point, you will have a choice as to what belief you will apply to your situation. After a while you will notice that for every victim consciousness belief, you will have a creator consciousness equivalent. Following your intuition will often support your decisions to go with Creator consciousness.
Following your new belief is what I mean by “making the space to think in a different way”. This is where you new system of beliefs begin. Remember that meditation is important to the smooth progression of your journey, and remember also, take your time and be patient. Even a small increment in your growth is a necessary step in your fulfilment.
Next week continues . . .
