Even the bad times are good …

… universal talk.

Greetings dear meditators and friends, I hope the new year is unfolding well for you and that your meditation practice continues to anchor you in peace.

Here in Matakana we’ve enjoyed stretches of warm sunshine, followed by periods of very heavy rain. It feels as though this contrast may be a signature of 2026—a year in which Mother Nature speaks with greater clarity and insistence. I sense this strongly.

With that in mind, I’d love to hear how you are experiencing the energy of this year so far.

Humanity is clearly moving through rapid and ongoing change. Over the next few newsletters, I’ll be sharing reflections on this transformation—particularly the accelerated phase of human growth we are currently living through.

The title of this newsletter, “Even the Bad Times Are Good,” may be familiar to some of you as a pop song from the 1960s by The Tremeloes. I was just beginning my own journey in pop music at that time and remember playing the song myself. While the title fits our theme beautifully, my meaning here goes far beyond the song itself . . .

As we grow and transform, we often encounter discomfort—and sometimes real pain. When viewed in isolation, these challenging moments can feel like setbacks or barriers to healing, pulling us away from our deeper intentions. Yet when we are clear about our purpose and understand the nature of transformation, those same moments can be experienced very differently. In that light, even the difficult times reveal their value.

They do so, because we live within a benevolent universe—and as meditators, we are consciously connected to this.

There are times when difficulty is simply part of the journey toward a more harmonious place, and that is perfectly natural. In any genuine healing process, challenge often signals the dissolving of old limitations and the emergence of something freer and more authentic.

Still, it’s important to remember that transformation does not always require struggle. Some changes can occur gently, even instantly. Much depends on what is shifting and how that shift unfolds. I’ll explore this further in the next newsletter.

To conclude, I want to reflect on our relationship with a benevolent universe. The way we see ourselves, and the way we interpret the world around us is what shapes a difficult experience feeling like an obstacle or a meaningful step forward…

Goodness, happiness, optimism, and many other uplifting human qualities are expressions of vibration that form the foundation of both our physical and nonphysical universe. The nonphysical universe is consciousness; the physical universe is matter. Consciousness is the greater field—it permeates all space, flowing within and around every form of physical existence.

As universal human beings, formed of both matter and consciousness, we each have an intimate and uniquely personal relationship with the greater holographic universe. The holographic principle tells us that the essence of the ‘whole’ is contained within every part. In this sense, each of us carries the universe within us. It may even be said that we are the universe—and like it, our true boundaries are infinite.

At this level of being, we exist within the expressions of universal vibration. We are shaped by goodness, happiness, and optimism. In our interaction with the universe, our thoughts, feelings, and words are reflected back to us without condition.

Whether we label life experiences as good or bad, every event represents the fulfilment of a wish held at some level of our being, affirmed by our belief. The universe offers what might be called a form of “universal therapy”—it does not judge, it simply mirrors the vibration it receives. It does so through its inherent goodness, happiness, and optimism. And because of this, even events that appear negative often carry a positive outcome.

When we think, feel, and speak from a place of distrust toward life, the universe—through its unconditional nature—reflects that vibration back to us. What we then receive is the experience of that distrust.

When we think, feel, and speak with appreciation and gratitude for life, the universe again responds through its inherent goodness, happiness, and optimism. In return, we receive experiences that reflect our pleasure and gratitude.

In both cases, what we receive is ultimately beneficial. Experiences born from distrust invite growth and self-reflection—which is good. Experiences born from appreciation and gratitude expand our fulfilment—which is even better!

Seen through this understanding, the changes unfolding in the human world—whether described as good news or bad—are simply part of the same unfolding. In truth, it is all good news. There will always be challenges to meet, but when we hold confidence in a positive outcome, life reflects that assurance back to us. When difficult news arises, it may simply indicate an opportunity to deepen our trust in Universal Goodness and realign ourselves.

Finally, the pathway of Peace - Inner Peace, is found through non-attachment and impartiality. When your energy is aligned with Universal Goodness, you naturally walk the middle path of balance.

I’ll leave this here for now, as I’ll be exploring this further in my next communication … Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Thank you for reading and for sharing.

May your peace be within.
With much love,
Jeffree
